Valheim has many different ranges of tools, as it is a very advanced and versatile game. We will be going over each tool and the area of expertise for that specific tool. Such as Logging, Farming, Mining, Etc… So let’s get started!
The Stone Axe is used on softer woods, such as beech, fir, and pine trees, and is generally used for tree-felling. You can craft this from 5 wood and 4 stones. Following the Stone Axe, we have the Flint Axe. You can access this tool after a workbench has been built. The Flint Axe is also the second woodcutting tool. You can craft the Axe from 4 wood and 6 flints. Just like the Stone Axe The defensive qualities consist of a Block power at a 10, Parry force is at a 20, and Parry bonus is 2X. The offensive side of the Axe has Slash damage of 15, a Backstab of 3X, and a Knockback of 50.
The Bronze Axe is the third woodcutting tool, following the Flint Axe. This is the first axe that can chop Birch and oak unlike the Flint and Stone Axe. Since there is now an axe that can chop Birch and Oak trees this means you can now gather fine wood. You can craft this Axe with 4 wood, 8 bronze, and 2 leather scraps. The defensive qualities consist of a Block power at a 10, Parry force is at a 20, and Parry bonus is 2X. The offensive side of the Axe has Slash damage of 35, a Backstab of 3X, and a Knockback of 50.

The Hoe can be crafted in the workbench, and the materials for crafting require 5 wood and 2 stones. This tool is used to elevate or level the ground. It also can be used to apply Paved Road ground decor. To level, the ground keeps this in mind When shift-clicking it attaches the hoe to the level of ground you are pointing at. When not shift clicked it defaults the hoe to the level of ground you are standing on.
The Antler Pickaxe is used for mining Stone, Copper, Tin, and Iron. This will be the first mining tool you can use before progressing further in the game. This item is you will need quite often in Valheim, it is called the Workbench. Used to craft, repair items, and it allows the construction of many buildings. In order for a player to be able to craft and repair, Workbenches must be roofed and 70% enclosed. Repairing equipment that was initially crafted using the Workbench does not cost any additional materials. The Workbench is one of the limited structures that do not have prerequisites for their construction beside a Hammer. You will need 10 wood pieces to craft this item.
The Stonecutter is used for building stone structures and crafting items. To build stone floors and walls you need to place a stonecutter near a Workbench. You can craft this from 10 wood pieces, 2 iron, and 4 stone.
Forges are buildable structures found in Valheim, it is an essential structure that lets you create and repair items that have metal components in their recipes. It must be upgraded to reach its full potential. To craft this you will need 4 stone, 4 coal, 10 wood, and 6 copper.
The Spinning Wheel is a bit different than the rest, it becomes available after the player has killed Moder to obtain the materials for an Artisan table. The Wheel converts the Flax into Linen Thread. Each piece of flax takes 30 seconds to convert into Linen thread. It has a capacity of 40 Flax and will drop Linen as it is made automatically. You can craft this from 20 fine wood, 10 iron nails, and 5 leather scraps.
The Campfire can be crafted usinga Hammer, you can find those steps here. The Campfire can only be built on the ground, natural rocks or player placed stone structures. To craft you will need 5 stone and 2 wood.
Here we have the Hearth, which is used to make a bigger fire than the Campfire. The hearth must be built on something strong and sturdy such as a stone floor, the ground, or pillars to support it. You can find how to build a Hearth here. With 1/20 fuel, a Hearth will last for 1 hour and 23 minutes. At maximum capacity, a Hearth should burn for 27 hours and 47 minutes. You can craft the Hearth from 15 Stone.
Next, we have the Cauldron, The Cauldron is used to create mead-based recipes, as well as various food items. Requires a fire source underneath in order to craft with, such as a Campfire or Hearth. You can create this with a Hammer and 10 tin.
Lastly. we have the Cooking Station. The cooking station is used to cook raw meat-type ingredients into their cooked form, or if left too long, into coal. In order to cook the meat, you must have a Hearth or Campfire under it. To craft, it requires 2 pieces of wood. You can find how to build and what you can cook here.
This is the Bed in Valheim. If a player sleeps it skips the game clock to the next morning. The crafting stations will continue to work while the player sleeps.
